BLACK PALACE (MEXICO)

BLACK PALACE (MEXICO)
November 20, 2010
Mexico City

This installation in Mexico City stretches 200 meters long and acts as a short film when viewed from one side to the other. WK was asked to create this large-scale installation to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution. When approached with this honor, WK wanted to capture the spirit of the people and the culture. The “Black Palace” served as the perfect backdrop, built in the 19th century as a jail, the establishment incarcerated several of the Revolution’s heroes and has since been turned into the General National Archives.
